London is Burning

Camden Market Fire
Sunday 10th February

Police are warning people to stay away from Camden Market as the clean-up begins following a huge fire on Saturday night.

Chalk Farm Road and parts of Camden High Street, as well as surrounding one way streets, are expected to be closed for the next three or four days.

No-one was injured but the London Fire Brigade said it had to send 20 fire engines and 100 firefighters to tackle the blaze. The worst-hit areas were the Canal Market area and the famous pub the Hawley Arms.

A meeting is being organised by Camden Council to help businesses affected by the fire, with details to be posted on the council's website.

Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, said: "Our thoughts are with those people affected by the fire in Camden Market - one of the most thriving markets in London and of enormous importance for the economy of the local area and beyond.

"Thankfully there appears to be no-one injured despite the fact that it is a dense area and on a Saturday evening would have been crowded."

Ok so I just have to say phew!! What a relief, I don't watch tv, but tape it and watch it when I feel like it...

So when I heard an old headline I was like what!! My trip around London is ruined!! I'm not going now!

Of course not really but what a bummer!

Soooo relieve to hear the Camden Lock Market and Stables Markets are both still operating, as rebuilding does take months and I'll be there in less than three (3) Months!

Yay for me!
